This series of artworks were created in response to a collaborative dance and art project Letters:Cartas with choreographer, Rejane Garcia and composer, Michelle Bee. The collaboration explored the value of the handwritten letter in our digital culture and was inspired by the letters that Rejane received from her mother when she was away from home at the age of 15. Following her mother’s death, the letters remain the only material legacy Rejane has left. Having kept the letters in a box unopened since that time, she went back home to Brazil to retrieve them.
