Letters:Cartas is a collaborative dance and art project with choreographer, Rejane Garcia and composer, Michelle Bee. Through performance, discussion forums, dance and writing workshops both in London and Athens, we explored the value of the handwritten letter in our digital culture. The project was inspired by the letters that Rejane received from her mother when she was away from home at the age of 15. Following her mother’s death, the letters remain the only material legacy Rejane has left. Having kept the letters in a box unopened since that time, she went back home to Brazil to retrieve them.
